Clifford Phelps claimed in solo motorcycle crash near Silsbee

HARDIN CO., TX – A 41-year-old man died this past Friday from injuries sustained in a motorcycle accident along the highway in east-central Hardin County, reports 12 News Now.

The accident happened shortly before 7:45 p.m. near the junction of US-96 and Business 96, which is just south of Silsbee and about 18 miles north of Beaumont.

Police say that for unknown reasons, the motorcyclist lost control of his bike and crashed into a road sign in the center median.

The biker, identified as Clifford Phelps of Beaumont, sustained fatal injuries.

There were no other passengers on the motorcycle at the time of the accident.

Drivers likely experienced delays along Business 96 southbound Friday night while emergency crews gathered evidence and worked to clear the scene.

A full investigation is underway.
