Ronald Moymer, 2 others killed in head-on crash near Vega
OLDHAM CO., TX – Two adults and one child died Monday in a collision involving a semi-truck and a passenger vehicle in southeast Oldham County, reports News Channel 10.
Shortly after 6:30 p.m. emergency crews responded to a head-on crash along I-40, just west of Vega, which is about 35 miles west of Amarillo.
Police say that an eastbound Volvo 18-wheeler veered onto the westbound side of the interstate and entered the path of a westbound 2022 Honda Pilot. The two vehicles collided, killing two adults from the Honda at the scene.
Medics airlifted an 11-year-old boy from the Honda to a hospital in Lubbock, where he later died from injuries sustained in the accident.
Authorities identified the two adult victims as 62-year-old Ronald Momyer and 61-year old Julie Momyer.
The truck driver was not hurt in the collision.
The crash likely created delays along I-40 just west of Vega while teams attended to the victims, gathered evidence, and worked to clear the scene.
A full investigation is underway.
