Shawn, Melissa Kelley killed in motorcycle crash on FM 1960

HUMBLE, TX – A two-vehicle collision that happened early Friday in the northeast suburbs of Houston claimed the lives of two motorcyclists, reports Fox 26 Houston.

Shortly before 4 a.m., emergency crews responded to a major accident on FM 1960 near Kenswick Drive in the Humble area. This is just east of George Bush Intercontinental Airport.

Police say that the driver of a Ram 1500 pickup failed to yield right of way when turning left onto FM 1960. The pickup entered the roadway directly in front of a motorcycle, causing a rear-end collision.

The motorcycle operator, identified as Shawn Kelley, succumbed to his injuries at the scene of the crash.

Medics airlifted a passenger from the motorcycle, identified as Melissa Kelley, to an area hospital. She died not long after transport.

The driver of the pickup truck, identified as Javier Briones, went to the hospital with injuries of unknown severity.

Authorities do not suspect intoxication at this time, and it’s unclear if Briones will face charges.

A full investigation is underway.
