Victim in Terrell train crash IDed as James Earl Davis, 41

TERRELL, TX – A 41-year-old man died Wednesday when a train struck him in north-central Kaufman County, reports WFAA News 8.

News of a train crash near US-80 and Gardner Street in Terrell reached police shortly before 5:30 a.m. Terrell is about 37 miles southeast of Dallas.

Police aren’t yet sure why the victim was walking along the tracks in the path of the Union Pacific Railroad.

The victim, identified as James Earl Davis of Terrell, succumbed to his injuries at the scene of the accident.

Nobody on the train sustained injuries in the crash.

Officials closed railroad crossings in the area of US-80 and Gardner while crews worked at the scene.

A full investigation is underway.
