Hit-and-run at Airline, Sam Houston injures Brandon Weppler
VICTORIA, TX – A 19-year-old driver left the scene of a collision that seriously injured a motorcyclist in northeast Victoria on Sunday night.
Around 7 p.m., emergency crews were called to a two-vehicle accident at the intersection of East Airline Road and Sam Houston Drive, which is just southwest of Victoria Memorial Stadium and northeast of Victoria’s Texas A&M campus.
Police say that a Chevy Trailblazer struck a motorcycle in the intersection. The driver of the Trailblazer did not stop to render aid and to speak with authorities.
Medics airlifted the motorcyclist, identified as 50-year-old Brandon Weppler, to an area hospital with serious injuries.
Officials located the driver of the Chevy and arrested him on charges of intoxication assault and leaving the scene of an injury crash. The driver has been identified as Jescey-Raye Jaydon Ayala.
The investigation is ongoing.
