Kyle Jones, 1 other IDed as victims in fiery La Salle Co. crash
LA SALLE CO., TX – Two men died Monday in a two-vehicle collision involving a semi-truck along the interstate in southwest La Salle County, reports News 4 San Antonio.
Shortly before 4 p.m., emergency crews were called to a fiery accident on the northbound side of I-35 near mile marker 55, just south of Artesia Wells and about 55 miles northeast of Laredo.
Police say that for unknown reasons, a 2011 Ford pickup rear-ended an 18-wheeler on the interstate. The impact of the collision caused both the pickup and the semi to catch fire.
Two passengers from the Ford succumbed to their injuries at the scene. Authorities identified them as 54-year-old Fernando Espinosa and 26-year-old Kyle Baily Jones.
The truck driver sustained minor injuries; it’s unclear if they required hospitalization.
A full investigation is underway. Anyone with tips or information to share can contact the La Salle County Sheriff’s Office.
