Alex Armand IDed as pedestrian killed in Bell Co. crash

TEMPLE, TX –  A 45-year-old New York man sustained fatal injuries Monday in an auto-pedestrian crash in eastern Bell County, reports KXXV 25.

The accident occurred shortly after 4:30 p.m. on the southbound side of I-35 between Huron Drive and Profit Place on the west side of Temple. This is about 35 miles southwest of Waco.

Police say that an 18-wheeler struck and killed a pedestrian along the interstate. The pedestrian, who has since been identified as Alex Armand, was attempting to cross I-35 on foot.

The truck driver involved in the crash did not stop to render aid and to speak with police. Authorities eventually located and arrested the driver near Salado. Charges have not yet been announced.

Officials closed the southbound side of I-35 in the area of the crash while emergency crews worked at the scene.

A full investigation is underway.
