Juan Pablo Aguilar killed in Garland crash at W State, McKinley

GARLAND, TX – A 32-year-old man sustained fatal injuries Friday in a collision involving a police cruiser in northeast Dallas County, reports Fox 4 KDFW.

The accident occurred around 6:30 a.m. at the intersection of West State Street and McKinley Street in Garland, which is approximately 19 miles northeast of Dallas.

The preliminary investigation indicates that an eastbound police cruiser struck a pickup truck that was stopped in the intersection. The truck’s headlights were not in use, and the driver of the truck was standing outside of the vehicle.

Either the cruiser or the pickup truck impacted with the man standing in the intersection, and he died after transport to an area hospital.

Authorities identified the victim as Juan Pablo Rio Aguilar.

Medics transported the officer to the hospital with minor injuries.

The investigation is ongoing.
