Axel Evarado, 1 other killed in El Paso Border Patrol chase
EL PASO, TX – Two men died, and five people sustained injuries Sunday in a crash that ended a pursuit involving Border Patrol agents in El Paso.
According to CBS 4 News, the accident occurred shortly before 6 p.m. on Paisano Drive. Officials haven’t provided a cross street for the crash.
The investigation indicates that an Infiniti G37 carrying seven people fled Border Patrol agents after an attempted stop near the border wall. The driver ultimately lost control of the Infiniti while speeding, left the roadway, and crashed into both a pole and a curb. The impact of the collision caused the vehicle to overturn.
Two people from the Infiniti died at the scene of the crash. Authorities identified them as 30-year-old Axel Evarado Iquic-Sequen of Guatemala and 22-year-old Manuel Mateo Lopez from Mexico.
Medics transported five others from the vehicle to an area hospital with injuries of unknown severity.
A full investigation is underway.
