Brandi Carter claimed in Smith Co. crash caused by DUI driver

SMITH CO., TX – A 35-year-old woman was killed Wednesday in a crash caused by a drunk driver in northeast Smith County, reports CBS 19.

The incident occurred along FM 2015 between Tyler and Winona. Officials haven’t yet provided a cross street for the accident.

The investigation thus far indicates that 31-year-old Jeremiah Munoz was intoxicated when he stole a pickup truck from a gas station on US-271 and soon after caused a wrong-way collision near Winona.

The driver of the other vehicle, identified as Brandi Carter of Tyler, died at the scene.

Authorities arrested Munoz on a charge of intoxication manslaughter.

The investigation is ongoing.
