Carlos Guerra charged in fatal crash near downtown San Antonio
SAN ANTONIO, TX – A woman died, and a man was hurt Sunday in a wrong-way collision along the interstate near downtown San Antonio.
According to KENS 5, the accident occurred on the northbound side of I-35 at St. Mary’s Street, which is just southeast of Methodist Hospital Metropolitan and northwest of San Antonio Museum of Art.
Police say that 42-year-old Carols Guerra was intoxicated when his southbound Chevy Silverado entered the northbound side of the interstate and crashed head-on into 2024 Chevy Express.
A passenger in the van, identified only as a woman in her 50s, succumbed to her injuries at the scene.
Medics transported the male driver of the van to an area hospital with critical injuries.
Authorities arrested Guerra following a field-sobriety test at the scene.
A full investigation is underway.
