1 killed, 5 hurt in Lubbock crash at E 10th and MLK
LUBBOCK, TX – An 18-year-old pedestrian died, and several people were hurt Saturday in a collision involving three vehicles in Lubbock.
According to KCBD 11, the accident happened shortly before 8:30 p.m. at the intersection of East 10th Street and East MLK Jr. Boulevard, which is just east of the FiberMax Center for Discovery.
Police say that a northbound Jeep collided with a southbound Audi when the latter vehicle initiated a left turn at the intersection. A northbound GMC Yukon then struck the driver of the Audi, who had exited his vehicle to check on the driver of the Jeep.
The driver of the Audi, identified as Deveron Ogunye, died after transport to an area hospital.
Two people in the Jeep sustained non-critical injuries, and a third went to the hospital with moderate injuries.
The driver of the GMC Yukon sustained minor injuries; it’s unclear if she required hospitalization.
