Two semis collide on I-30 near New Boston, killing James Holder
BOWIE CO., TX – A 58-year-old man died last Friday in a crash involving two semi-trucks in central Bowie County, reports KSLA 12.
The accident occurred shortly before 2:30 a.m. on the eastbound side of I-30 near mile marker 198, just west of New Boston and approximately 24 miles northwest of Texarkana.
Police say that an eastbound 18-wheeler struck another semi while changing lanes to pass slower traffic.
A passenger in the sleeping berth of the first semi-truck sustained fatal injuries. Authorities identified him as James Earl Holder of North Carolina.
No other injuries have been announced in connection to the wreck.
Officials closed I-30 in the area of the collision while crews worked to clear the scene.
A full investigation is underway.
