Rear-end crash near Memorial Dr, Picnic Ln claims Houston teen
HOUSTON, TX – A teen driver sustained fatal injuries Thursday in a two-vehicle accident that happened along a major roadway in central Houston, reports Click 2 Houston.
Shortly after 8:05 p.m., emergency crews responded to a collision near the intersection of westbound Memorial Drive and North Picnic Lane in Memorial Park.
Police say that a 17-year-old driver rear-ended a second vehicle on Memorial Drive. The car operated by the teen then hit both a pole and a concreate barrier after travelling off of the roadway. The initial collision pushed the second car onto the eastbound side of Memorial Drive.
Medics transported one person from the second car to an area hospital with injuries of unknown severity.
The teen driver, who has not yet been identified by authorities, succumbed to their injuries at the scene.
The investigation is ongoing.
