Two SUVs collide on US-277 in San Angelo, killing Jose Gallegos
SAN ANGELO, TX – An elderly man died Tuesday in a two-vehicle collision that happened along the highway in central Tom Green County, reports San Angelo Live.
The accident involved two SUVs and happened along US-277 at Reece Road on the southern outskirts of San Angelo, which is around two hours northwest of Midland.
Police say that a westbound Chevrolet Trailblazer collided with a southbound Mitsubishi Outlander when the driver of the former vehicle failed to heed a stop sign at the intersection.
The unrestrained driver of the Trailblazer, identified as 76-year-old Jose V. Gallegos, succumbed to his injuries at the scene of the crash.
Medics transported the 27-year-old driver of the Outlander to an area hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
A full investigation is underway.
