Pickup rear-ends semi near Tyler, killing Noah Nichols

TYLER, TX – A Palestine man sustained fatal injuries last Friday in a two-vehicle collision involving a semi along the highway in central Smith County.

According to KLTV 7, the accident occurred in the area of US-271 and I-20, which is northeast of Tyler in the Starrville area.

Police say that the 20-year-old driver of a pickup truck was likely speeding when he rear-ended an 18-wheeler on the highway. The pickup became wedged beneath the back of the semi-truck.

The driver of the pickup died at the scene. Authorities identified him as Noah Nichols.

It’s unclear if the truck driver sustained injuries in the accident.

A full investigation is underway.
