Edwin Zaragoza Barajas, 1 other killed in crash near Friona
PARMER CO., TX – Two men died early Sunday in a two-vehicle collision along the highway in northeast Parmer County, reports Amarillo Globe News.
Around 1 a.m., emergency crews responded to a fatal crash involving a semi and an SUV at US-60 and FM 3140 between Black and Friona. This is around 64 miles southwest of Amarillo.
Police say that a northbound GMC Yukon and an eastbound 18-wheeler collided when the driver of the former vehicle initiated a left turn onto US-60.
Both the driver and passenger in the Yukon succumbed to their injuries at the scene of the accident. Authorities identified the victims as 26-year-old Edwin Abraham Zaragoza Barajas and 25-year-old Freddy Alexander Chocoj-Garcia. Chocoj-Garcia was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash.
Medics transported a third person from the Yukon to an area hospital with life-threatening injuries.
