Arnoldo Vargas IDed as victim in crash at McCombs, Sweetwater

EL PASO, TX – A 31-year-old man died last Friday in a wrong-way collision along a busy roadway in northeast El Paso, reports KFOX 14.

Shortly before 9:30 p.m., emergency crews responded to a two-vehicle crash in the area of McCombs Street and Sweetwater Drive, which is just southwest of Joey Barraza and Vino Memorial Park.

Police say that for unknown reasons, a southbound Chevy Trailblazer entered the northbound side of McCombs and collided head-on with a northbound BMW.

The unrestrained driver of the Trailblazer, identified as Arnoldo Vargas, died after transport to an area hospital.

It’s unclear if the other driver sustained injuries in the accident.

A full investigation is underway.
