Edward Sparks IDed as victim in Bellmead pedestrian crash

BELLMEAD, TX – An elderly man died Monday in an auto-pedestrian crash along the interstate in east-central McLennan County, reports KCENTV 6.

The accident occurred around 7 p.m. on I-35 near Pecan Lane in Bellmead, which is about five miles northeast of Waco.

Police say that a northbound pickup truck fatally struck 75-year-old Edward Sparks of Waco as he attempted to walk across the interstate.

Motorists likely encountered delays along I-35 in Bellmead Monday night while emergency crews worked at the scene.

It’s unclear if the driver involved in the accident will face charges.
