Jesus Chico Jr. killed in wrong-way crash on I-10 at N Mesa

EL PASO, TX – A 25-year-old man died Tuesday in a wrong-way collision along the interstate in central El Paso, reports KVIA 7.

The accident occurred shortly after 10:30 p.m. on the westbound side of I-10 near North Mesa Street in the downtown area, just north of San Jacinto Plaza.

Police say that an eastbound vehicle entered the westbound side of the interstate and collided head-on a westbound Honda Civic.

The driver of the Civic, identified as Jesus Chico Jr., sustained fatal injuries.

Medics transported the wrong-way driver, since identified as Britney Torres, to an area hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Authorities are investigating Torres’ condition at the time of the crash. No charges have been announced thus far.
