Cement truck and car collide on Hempstead Hwy, killing 1

HOCKLEY, TX – One person died Wednesday in a two-vehicle collision involving a cement mix truck in northwest Harris County, reports abc 13 News.

Around 6 a.m., emergency crews were called to a major accident on the eastbound side of the Hempstead Highway, or Business 290, near Bauer Hockley Road in the city of Hockley. This is about 40 miles northwest of Houston.

Police aren’t yet sure what caused the cement truck to collide with a passenger vehicle. They say that one person died at that scene of the crash. That person’s identity has not yet been disclosed.

Officials closed Hempstead Highway in the area of the collision while crews responded to the scene.

A full investigation is underway.
