Dep. Kenneth Lewis fatally struck on Katy Toll in W Houston

HOUSTON, TX – A deputy for the Fort Bend County Sheriff’s Office sustained fatal injuries last weekend in a hit-and-run crash in west Houston.

According to Fox 26, the accident occurred shortly after 3:30 a.m. Saturday on I-10, or the Katy Tollway, near North Eldridge Parkway in the Energy Corridor.

Police say that Deputy Kenneth Lewis was standing along the interstate and rendering aid to a motorist with a disabled vehicle when a car hit him.

Lewis succumbed to his injuries in the hospital on Monday.

The driver involved in the collision did not stop to render aid or to speak with authorities. At this time, police do not have a description of the suspect’s vehicle.

A full investigation is underway.
