Maddison Dyer, 16, claimed in collision on TX-198 in Mabank

MABANK, TX – A high school student sustained fatal injuries last Thursday in a crash along the highway in southeast Kaufman County, reports WFAA News 8.

The accident occurred before school somewhere along TX-198 in the city of Mabank, about 10 miles southeast of Kemp and 54 miles south of Dallas.

Police haven’t yet disclosed the cause or circumstances of the collision. At this time, it’s unclear if additional vehicles were involved.

Medics transported a 16-year-old driver to an area hospital, where she later died from her injuries. Authorities identified the victim as Maddison Dyer.

Maddison, police say, was a sophomore and basketball player at Kemp High School.

A full investigation is underway.
