Two killed, Timmy Castillo hurt in Jasper Co. crash on TX-62

JASPER CO., TX – A Groves woman and her teen daughter sustained fatal injuries Friday in a wrong-way crash along the highway in southeast Jasper County.

According to KFDM 6, the accident occurred on TX-62 near the Jasper and Newton County Line. This is just southeast of Buna.

Police say that for unknown reasons, a northbound pickup truck entered the southbound side of the highway and collided with a southbound Honda sedan and a Chevy pickup.

Both occupants of the Chevy sustained fatal injuries. At this time, they’ve been identified as a 35-year-old woman and her 13-year-old daughter.

Medics transported the 57-year-old wrong-way driver, identified as Timmy Castillo, to an area hospital with non-critical injuries.

The driver of the Honda sedan did not sustain injuries.

It’s unclear if Castillo will face charges.
