Tyler PD responds to fatal semi crash on Toll 49 near MM 19

TYLER, TX – A multi-vehicle crash involving a semi-truck killed one person and injured others Thursday night in Smith County, reports KETK.

Shortly after 1:30 p.m., emergency crews responded to an accident involving at least three vehicles on Toll 49 in northwest Tyler, not far from the I-20 intersection.

Police haven’t yet shared any details regarding the cause or circumstances of the collision, except to confirm that one person died, and three other people required hospitalization for non-life-threatening injuries. The truck driver was unhurt in the crash.

Authorities have not yet released the name of the deceased.

Officials closed both sides of Toll 49 for a few hours Thursday afternoon while crews assisted the victims, gathered evidence and worked to clear the scene.
