Rod crashes through windshield in El Paso, injuring Norma Garcia

EL PASO, TX – A 43-year-old woman sustained injuries last Wednesday in a solo crash along the interstate in east El Paso, reports KVIA 7.

The accident happened shortly before 3 p.m. on the westbound side of I-10 between Lee Trevino Drive and Lomaland Drive near Mesa Vista.

While the circumstances of the incident remain unclear, police say that a metal rod crashed through the windshield of a westbound vehicle, causing it to crash along the interstate.

Medics transported the driver, since identified as Norma Garcia, to an area hospital with serious injuries.

It’s unclear if anyone else was hurt in the accident.

A full investigation is underway.
