Sanchez Martinez killed in crash on TX-67 near San Angelo

IRION CO., TX – A Ballinger man died Thursday in a wrong-way collision along the highway in east-central Irion County, reports Abilene Reporter News.

The accident happened shortly after 6:30 p.m. on US-67 just north of Five Star Ranch and on the southwestern outskirts of San Angelo.

Police say that a westbound pickup truck entered the eastbound side of the highway and crashed head on into an eastbound Mack semi-truck. Both vehicles then ignited.

The driver of the pickup truck, identified as Sanchez Martinez, succumbed to his injuries at the scene.

The other driver did not sustain injuries in the collision.

A full investigation is underway.
