UPDATE: Life claimed in crash involving truck on U.S. 287 in North Forth Worth

NORTH FORT WORTH, TX – One person’s life was claimed in a crash involving a truck on U.S. 287 North on Tuesday, the Forth Worth Star-Telegram confirms in an update.

According to new information from Fort Worth Police, the incident unfolded around 2:15 a.m. when a car crashed and overturned on the highway near Blue Mound Road.

The overturned car blocked one lane of the highway. It’s unclear if the driver of the overturned car was trapped inside, but a semi-truck driver stopped and came to their aid.

The truck driver used their hazard lights to block the overturned car and traffic. Unfortunately, that attempt proved futile, as the truck and car driver were struck by a third vehicle.

The force of the collision led a passenger in the third vehicle to die from their injuries. Officials did not specify whether the truck and car drivers were injured or if the car motorist was extricated by fire crews.

Authorities shut down the highway for several hours for the scene clean-up process.

The victim’s name has not been publicly identified at this time and will be released by the Tarrant County Medical Examiner’s Office.

Fort Worth Police are working to determine the contributing factors behind the crash.

We will issue updates, including the victim’s name and reports of charges.
