2 injured in pickup truck rollover collision in Grapevine

GRAPEVINE, TX – Two people were injured in a pickup truck rollover collision caused by a hit-and-run driver on Highway 121 in Grapevine on Monday, Fox4News said.

The incident unfolded around 9:30 p.m. near Highway 360 and Highway 121. Nearing the connector, a driver of an unspecified vehicle struck a white-colored pickup truck, causing the pickup truck to leave the road, overturn, and crash into a ditch.

The causing driver immediately fled the scene. The two pickup truck occupants, identified as Makenzie Koch and Kyle Bettencourt, were able to unbuckle their seatbelts and exit their vehicle. Their two backseat passengers — Golden Retrievers named River and Riggins — were also able to get out, and Riggins went into oncoming traffic, while River ran into the grass.

Two Good Samaritans saw what unfolded and immediately called 911 for help. One of the Samaritans, an off-duty paramedic, was able to safely remove Riggins from traffic and evaluated Koch and Bettencourt, a couple, for injuries.

Koch and Bettencourt had indeed sustained injuries, specifically bumps and bruises, and were taken to a hospital via ambulance. Both were reported to be in stable condition.

It’s unclear if the hit-and-run driver was found and what kind of vehicle they drove.

Other hit-and-run crashes also happened in the area, but officials did not release information about those specific collisions.

We will provide updates if more information comes to light.
