Cyclist’s life claimed in collision in Arlington

ARLINGTON, TX – A bicyclist died from their injuries as a result of a collision that happened on Interstate 20 East near Matlock Road on Monday, WFAA said.

Preliminary details show the cyclist was trying to cross the eastbound lanes around 4 p.m. A driver of a vehicle was close to the cyclist and swerved out of their lane to try to avoid hitting them. That driver was able to avoid striking them. However, the Toyota Prius behind them was not and crashed into the cyclist.

The cyclist suffered fatal injuries at the scene, while the Toyota Prius driver and their passengers were hospitalized for minor injuries.

The cyclist’s name will be released by the Tarrant County Medical Examiner’s Office pending notification of next of kin.

Officials closed eastbound Interstate 20 near Cooper Street for the scene clean-up process
