2 women’s lives claimed in crash involving 18-wheeler in North Richland Hills

NORTH RICHLAND HILLS, TX – Two women’s lives were claimed in a crash involving an 18-wheeler that happened in North Richland Hills on Tuesday, WFAA reports.

The incident unfolded around 12:30 p.m. Richland Hills Police said a sedan and an 18-wheeler collided on Loop 280 East near Holiday Lane. The impact of the collision trapped the sedan occupants — two women — inside, warranting a response from fire rescue crews.

Firefighters were able to free the women from the car. However, both of them unfortunately died from their injuries at the scene.

The medical examiner’s office will release the women’s names pending notification of next of kin.

Police do not expect the 18-wheeler driver to face charges, and are working to determine the events leading up to the crash.

Authorities shut down the eastbound lanes of the expressway to accommodate the on-scene clean-up process and investigation.
