Passenger’s life claimed, driver injured in single-vehicle crash in Denton

DENTON, TX – A passenger’s life was claimed, and a driver was injured in a single-vehicle crash that happened in Denton on Friday.

The Denton Record-Chronicle said the collision occurred around 3 p.m. on a southbound Dallas Drive on-ramp connecting to Interstate 35 E. There, the driver crashed into a left-side curb and then the concrete support pillars of the overpass.

The passenger, a 17-year-old teen, died from their injuries, while the driver, a 21-year-old adult, survived.

EMS crews rushed the driver to a hospital for treatment of injuries, deemed non-life-threatening.

Police confirmed the driver and passenger were brothers visiting out of state.

The Tarrant County Medical Examiner’s Office will be the one to release the victim’s name.

Police closed the area for six hours before reopening.
