Six killed in head-on crash near Bynum

NEAR BYNUM, TX – Two adults and two kids were killed in a head-on crash that occurred between Bynum and Malone on Saturday, NBCDFW reports.

The incident unfolded around 4:30 p.m. when a Nissan driving northbound on State Highway 71 tried to overtake another vehicle by going into the opposite lane of traffic and colliding head-on with a Ford van.

The two Nissan occupants and the four van occupants — two children and two adults — died from their injuries, while one other van passenger, a child, survived.

EMS transported the surviving juvenile van passenger to a hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.

The Texas Department of Public Safety has not released the names of the deceased and is working to determine the exact cause of the crash.
