Man charged with manslaughter after McKinney crash that killed Sandra & William Lazarus

MCKINNEY, TX – A 51-year-old man was charged with two counts of manslaughter in connection with a crash that killed Sandra and William Lazarus on Friday, July 17.

This comes as an update in relation to our previous reporting. McKinney Police told Fox4News that they determined the 51-year-old man, identified as James Armont, was street racing another vehicle when he crashed his red BMW into a silver Hyundai minivan, occupied by the Lazarus couple.

The married couple, both 77, died from their injuries. Both worked at schools in their local district.

EMS crews transported Armont to a hospital for his injuries. He was listed in Collin County jail records, but no mugshot of him was found.

Residents are now hoping a stoplight could help reduce the number of street racing incidents and overall crashes.
