1 teen killed, 2 others injured in car crash in Denton

DENTON, TX – One teenager died, and two other teens were injured in a car crash in Denton that happened on FM 1173 East.

Denton police told NBCDFW that on Wednesday, a teenage girl was driving on the highway, heading towards Interstate 35, when she crashed her car.

The teenage driver and her two passengers — another teenage girl and a teenage boy — were rushed to the hospital. There, the teenage boy died from his injuries. The teenage driver suffered serious injuries, and the surviving teenage passenger sustained unspecified injuries.

The teenage passenger has been released from the hospital, while the teenage driver remains hospitalized.

Krum ISD released this statement to the public: “It is with profound sadness that we share the heartbreaking news of the loss of one of our students following a tragic automobile accident this afternoon.” School officials have not, however, released the name of the teenage boy.

Local police are also working to determine what caused the collision.
