Man airlifted following fiery SUV collision near Lake Bridgeport

NEAR LAKE BRIDGEPORT, TX – A man was airlifted to a hospital following a fiery SUV collision that took place near Lake Bridgeport on Wednesday.

The Wise County Sheriff’s Office told Fox4News that the male SUV driver drove onto a 200-acre religious camp near Lake Bridgeport when he crashed his vehicle into a forest area. His vehicle caught on fire as a result.

Body camera footage from deputies showed them attempting to pull the male SUV driver out of his burning vehicle. One deputy was heard saying, “C’mon! You’re gonna die if you don’t get out!” to the male motorist who appeared to be uncooperative when it came to following instructions for escaping his fiery SUV.

The man was eventually pulled out and suffered serious burns as a result.

Wise County EMS was among the first responders at the scene.

Deputies did not specify the contributing factor behind the crash or whether the driver would face charges.
