At least 1 injured in crash involving derailed train in Collinsville

COLLINSVILLE, TX – At least one person was injured following a crash that involved a derailed train on Sunday, Fox4News reports.

The collision took place before 5:30 a.m. off U.S. 377 and County Line Church Road. A train had derailed, causing the train cars to block the north and southbound lanes. Moments later, a driver of a southbound vehicle crashed into a derailed train.

It’s not immediately clear how many people were injured, although at least one or more people were left with unspecified injuries.

Authorities shut down U.S. 377 in both directions, extending in northern Collinsville and to south of Whitesboro. During that time, drivers were encouraged to seek alternative routes.

The cause of the crash is under investigation.
