Woman charged in connection with 2023 University Park crash that killed Honor Wallace

UNIVERSITY PARK, TX – A woman is being charged in connection with a 2023 crash that killed a Southern Methodist University student.

According to Fox4News, the woman, identified as Lynlee Pollis, is facing two felony charges of intoxication manslaughter and intoxication assault.

Pollis’ trial against the State of Texas started on Monday, Sept. 28, and the jury selection was held on Sept. 25 and Sept. 26.

The Backstory

The crash happened on Sept. 24, 2023, before 4:30 p.m. at the intersection of Monticello Avenue and North Central Expressway Service Road.

Pollis, then 27, ran a red light and crashed into a vehicle traveling east on Monticello.

The driver of the eastbound vehicle, SMU student Honor Wallace, had the right of way and suffered a broken collarbone, while Pollis sustained minor injuries.

EMS crews rushed Wallace to a hospital, where she later died from her injuries. Wallace was studying English and Spanish at the university, aspiring to get degrees in both.

An arrest affidavit later revealed that Pollis admitted to police officers about having a margarita with tequila shots at Mutts Canine Cantina and also took ADHD medication.

Police also said Pollis had glossy eyes, smelled of alcohol, and had slurred speech.

What’s Next?

If convicted, Pollis could get up to 20 years of prison for an intoxication manslaughter charge and an additional 10 years of prison for an intoxication assault charge.

Wallace’s parents filed a civil suit against Pollis, which is expected to start sometime this month.  Mutts Canine Cantina is also listed as a defendant, and Wallace’s parents are seeking $1 million in damages.
