Garland collision claims lives of SMU graduates Madison Duren and Julian Harris

GARLAND, TX – Dallas police are investigating a crash that claimed the lives of a young couple who were active in the North Texas theater community, according to a KDFW report.

The two victims of the Oct. 6 collision have been identified as 22-year-old Madison “Madi” Duren, and 23-year-old Julian Harris.   Their Prius was among three vehicles involved in the wreck at the intersection of Garland Road and Magellan Circle near the Dallas Arboretum in the vicinity of White Rock Lake.

Police said the Prius was T-boned after pulling out onto Garland Road.   Harris, who was driving, was pronounced dead at the scene while Duren died after being transported to an area hospital.  Three people were in another vehicle involved, a Hyundai Elantra.  The three occupants of the Hyundai, a woman and two children ages 1 and 3, were injured.  Dallas police said the third vehicle involved in the incident left the scene.

Duren and Harris both graduated from SMU with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in theater, and were reported to have been involved in acting, writing and performing.
