Firefighters injured when truck falls from I-395 onto S Good Latimer
DALLAS, TX – Water on the roadway caused a firetruck to fall from an interstate overpass just north of downtown Dallas on Sunday morning, reports WFAA News 8.
The accident happened just after 6 a.m. on I-345 over South Good Latimer Expressway and the DART tracks. This is just north of the Deep Ellum area.
Police day that Dallas Fire Rescue Engine 11 fell from the overpass onto the DART tracks and the expressway below. The truck had hydroplaned prior to the accident.
Medics transported all four firefighters to the hospital. Three were discharged that afternoon, while one remained at the hospital in the ICU.
In addition to causing injuries, the crash also damaged the DART system, causing the closure of several lines. It’s not yet clear when the damaged lines will re-open.
Officials warned drivers of significant delays in the area during clean-up efforts.
