Multi-vehicle crash on I-45 near Simpson Stuart kills 4, injures at least 1

DALLAS, TX – A multi-vehicle crash along the interstate in southeast Dallas killed four people, and injured at least one other on Saturday, reports WFAA News 8.

The accident happened around 1 p.m. on I-45 between Simpson Stuart Road and South Great Trinity Forest Way. This is just west of the Joppa Preserve.

Police say that an initial collision involving two northbound vehicles caused one of the cars to travel across the center median and crash into two southbound vehicles. The wrong-way vehicle ultimately overturned, killing all three occupants.

Medics transported both southbound drivers to an area hospital, where one died from injuries sustained in the crash.

Thus far, authorities have identified one of the victims in the wreck as 28-year-old Jarodrick Smith.

A full investigation is underway to determine the cause of the accident.
