College students killed in crash involving semi on TX-349 in Martin Co.

MARTIN CO., TX – A young man and woman died last Thursday after a two-vehicle collision involving a semi-truck along the highway in Martin County, reports EverythingLubbock.

The accident happened before 2 p.m. on TX-349 near mile marker 300 along the route to Lubbock.

Police say that the 19-year-old driver of a northbound 2012 Jeep Wrangler rear-ended an 18-wheeler when the latter vehicle stopped to turn into a private drive. Both the driver and passenger of the Jeep, identified as Shelby Carroll and Jack Parks, died in the accident. They were both college students at Texas Tech University.

The 31-year-old truck driver from Odessa did not sustain injuries in the collision.
