2-vehicle crash involving semi at US-283 and TX-36 kills 1

CALLAHAN CO., TX – A 51-year-old woman died last Friday in a two-vehicle collision involving a semi along the highway in north-central Callahan County, reports Big Spring Herald.

The accident happened in the morning at the intersection of US-283 and TX-36. This is on the southern outskirts of Baird, about 29 miles southeast of Abilene.

Police say that a northbound passenger vehicle and a westbound 2016 Western Star semi collided in the intersection when the driver of the former vehicle failed to yield right of way at a stop sign.

The driver of the passenger vehicle, identified as Benita Yadira Solis Rodriguez, died at the scene from injuries sustained in the crash.

Medics transported the 60-year-old truck driver and a 7-year-old passenger from the semi to hospital with non-critical injuries.

A full investigation is underway.
