BELL CO. ,TX – Two people died last Monday morning in a wrong-way collision along the highway in central Bell County, reports Fox 44 News.

The accident happened around 6:30 a.m. on FM 439 near FM 93, which is near Happy Campers RV Park, about six miles west of Belton.

Police say that for unknown reasons, an eastbound 2020 Kia Optima collided head-on with a westbound 1992 Chevy pickup truck. The drivers of both vehicles, identified as Lance Scott Jerome Walker, 46, and Macayla Meshell Bartek, 30, died in the accident.

Motorists likely experienced significant delays along the highway Monday morning while authorities gathered evidence and worked to clear the scene.

It’s not yet known which vehicle was travelling in the wrong direction.
