Woman, teen killed in El Paso pedestrian crash on I-10 at exit 19B
EL PASO, TX – A 33-year-old woman and a 15-year-old girl sustained fatal injuries Saturday in a pedestrian crash along the interstate in El Paso, reports KFOX 14.
The accident happened just before 12:30 a.m. at the westbound ramp for Exit 19 B on I-10. This is just north of downtown and southeast of El Paso High School.
Police say that a westbound 2002 Silver Mitsubishi Montero struck both pedestrians on the ramp as they were crossing the interstate from south to north. A second vehicle then hit the teen. The second vehicle left the scene of the accident.
Authorities have not yet released the names of the victims. They identified the driver of the Mitsubishi as 56-year-old Jose Antonio Gutierrez.
Officials closed I-10 in the area of the crash while emergency teams responded to the scene.
