1 killed when box truck rear-ends semi on US-77 near Refugio
REFUGIO CO., TX – Emergency teams responded to a fatal crash involving a box truck and a semi in central Refugio County early Tuesday morning, reports kiii 3 News.
The accident happened around 2:30 a.m. on the southbound side of US-77, just north of Refugio. This is about 42 miles north of Corpus Christi.
Police say that an earlier multi-vehicle crash prompted the driver of an 18-wheeler to stop in the inside lane of US-77 southbound. The driver of a 2018 Nissan box truck failed to decelerate and collided with the rear of the semi-truck.
The driver of the Nissan, identified as 31-year-old Michael Ngo of Houston, died in the accident.
