Rogelio Benavidez-Urrea killed in major crash near San Juan

HIDALGO CO., TX – A 76-year-old man died this past Friday in a two-vehicle crash involving a semi in southeastern Hidalgo County, reports ValleyCentral 4. 

The accident occurred shortly before 2 p.m. near the intersection of South Stewart Road and Military Road, which is just south of the city of San Juan.

Police say that the driver of a northbound semi neglected to heed a stop sign and collided with a Honda vehicle.

Authorities pronounced the driver of the Honda, identified as Rogelio Benavidez-Urrea, deceased at the scene of the collision.

Medics transported the truck driver to an area hospital with undisclosed injuries.

A full investigation is underway.
