Dennis Whaley, 69, seriously hurt in Lubbock bicycle collision
LUBBOCK, TX – A 69-year-old cyclist sustained serious injuries last month in a crash involving a pickup truck on the southwest side of Lubbock, reports everythingLubbock.
The accident occurred shortly before 5 p.m. on Saturday, March 1st, at the intersection of 50th Street and Wayne Avenue. This is just northeast of Southcrest Christian School and southwest of Stewart Elementary School.
Police say that for unknown reasons, the eastbound cyclist left the sidewalk along 50th Street, entered the roadway, and hit the side of an eastbound pickup truck.
Medics transported the cyclist, identified as Dennis Whaley, to an area hospital with major injuries.
Neither the driver nor passenger of the pickup truck sustained injuries.
Drivers likely encountered rush hour delays while emergency crews worked at the scene.
