Fitim Nela, 25, dies in motorcycle crash on FM 439 in Belton
BELTON, TX – A Killeen man died late Saturday morning in a crash involving a motorcycle and a passenger vehicle in central Bell County, reports Fox 44 News.
The accident happened shortly before 11 a.m. on FM 439 near Lake Park Road in the city of Belton. This is about an hour northeast of Austin.
Police say that an eastbound motorcyclist collided head-on with a Buick sedan. The motorcyclist was riding in a group of bikers when the wreck occurred. It’s not yet clear what caused him to lose control of his bike.
The motorcyclist, identified as 25-year-old Fitim Nela, died at the scene of the accident. It’s unclear if Nela was wearing a safety helmet at the time of the crash.
No other injuries have been reported in connection to the wreck.
Officials closed FM 439 for around five hours while emergency teams worked at the scene.
