Samuel Ponce, 32, seriously hurt in El Paso hit-and-run
EL PASO, TX – A man went to the hospital earlier this month when a vehicle struck him on his electric scooter in northeast El Paso, reports KFOX 14.
The accident happened on Saturday, April 12th, at the intersection of Piedras Street and Tularosa Avenue, which is southwest of Memorial Park and north of I-10.
Police say that a 2014 Chevrolet Malibu struck the victim’s 2017 TaoTao Scooter at the intersection before fleeing the scene.
Medics transported the man on the scooter, since identified as 32-year-old Samuel Bryan Ponce, to an area hospital with serious, life-threatening injuries.
Earlier this week, El Paso Police received an anonymous tip, leading them to the driver of the hit-and-run vehicle. The driver, identified as 18-year-old Carlos Manuel Rivera, was arrested on a charge of collision involving personal injury or death.
The investigation is ongoing.
